Process Engineering Technician

ComSonics is seeking a highly motivated and technically proficient Process Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting the development and optimization of our manufacturing processes. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to conduct experiments, collect data, analyze results, and implement process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for processing Request for Quotes from Customers/Sales including reverse engineering including estimating the time and cost to complete an assembly.
  • Research and offer alternative solutions such as automatic tooling, alternate parts with same form, fit and function.
  • Collaborate with Customers to develop product in a manner that can be produced.
  • Drive problem solving process to maintain high customer satisfaction
  • Check drawings and documentation for completeness, accuracy, and interface with mating assemblies.
  • Develop the documentation/procedures needed for Manufacturing to repeatedly produce the product.
  • Assist in prototype builds of new assemblies and the training of assembly and/or test staff.
  • Request and maintain production related tools.
  • Generate drawings from samples as needed.
  • Prepare procedures and design/ build test fixtures which will ensure conformance to specifications as required.
  • Provide technical support to Manufacturing for products and processes.
  • Make recommendations for change which enhance the quality, improve productivity, or reduce cost.
  • Initiate and assist in implementing Engineering Change Notices in support of all necessary changes to documentation.
  • Investigate mechanical and electronic specifications and suppliers for components used in products and approve Source Control Documents.
  • Perform or oversee major maintenance on manufacturing and support equipment at prescribed intervals in accordance with established Preventive Maintenance schedules and/or catastrophic breakdowns.
  • Understand and perform most programming and Operational functions to key equipment,
  • Maintain up-to-date project plans and status reports as required by the Manufacturing Manager.
  • Oversee periodic audits / inventories of Customer Property and disposition same as required.
  • Maintain up to date IPC Certifications and in depth understanding of all.
  • Provide statistical and technical reports as required.
  • Provide training and support to workers operating all manufacturing machines.
  • Provide training on software packages and machine programming.
  • Support the preventive maintenance program as established.
  • Seek continual improvement in all processes and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all major 3rd party regulations (ISO, ITAR, OSHA, etc).
  • Work in collaboration with information technology to develop programs and reports from our ERP system to support the needs of management, as required.
  • Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, minimizing down-time when required.
  • Perform other duties requested by Management that relate to the classification of this position.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Chemical Technology, or a related field required.
  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing or process engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator and TrueView Software. Visual Basic, ERP systems, Microsoft Office Suite (including advanced skills in Excel and Word) desired.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
