Position Summary:
Southwest Steel Processing is seeking a Senior Process Engineer, Lead, to spearhead manufacturing process improvements and optimize production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness within our facility. This role will oversee a team or project, make pivotal technical decisions, and drive process innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in process engineering with leadership experience and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Job Duties:
- Design, develop, and optimize processes to improve efficiency and product quality.
- Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing environments.
- Provide technical support to production teams to resolve manufacturing issues, ensuring product quality and adherence to engineering standards. Ensure all engineering processes are followed and quality standards are maintained.
- Troubleshoot process problems and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate closely with the Quality Assurance department to develop and implement process control plans.
- Lead process improvement projects from conception through implementation.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvements and waste elimination.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to minimize process-related hazards.
- Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Train production personnel on new processes and improvements to existing processes.
What you need to be successful:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
- 5 or more years of experience in engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles and processes.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers.
- Strong understanding of forging processes, materials science, and metallurgy.
- Proficiency in CAD software and process simulation tools.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
