Process Engineer in Sheffield

We're helping a growing advanced materials team hire a Process Engineer to support the scale‑up of their porous silicon anode technology. This role combines hands‑on experimentation with process optimisation and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to bringing a new battery material into industrial production.
The Process Engineer will:
Design and run process development experiments to improve silicon synthesis and downstream processing.
Support scale‑up activities from lab optimisation through to pilot‑scale implementation.
Analyse process data using modelling or statistical tools to optimise operating conditions.
Translate experimental and modelling insights into practical, scalable process improvements.
Document results, learnings, and contributions to technical reports or IP.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across electrochemistry, materials characterisation, and product development.
The Process Engineer will have:
2-5 years' experience in process chemistry, materials development, or chemical engineering.
Hands‑on experience with materials synthesis or chemical processing.
Strong understanding of reaction chemistry, materials processing, or process optimisation.
Ability to analyse experimental data and draw clear conclusions.
Comfort working in a fast‑moving R&D environment.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Desirables - It would be great if you also have:
Experience with process scale‑up or pilot‑scale systems.
Familiarity with porous materials, silicon chemistry, or battery materials.
Exposure to process modelling, DOE, or statistical analysis.
Experience in start‑ups or agile R&D environments.
