Job Overview:
Are you ready to make a real impact in the world of photonic integrated circuits (PICs) We're looking for a hands-on Process Engineer to join our team in a cleanroom environment, where you'll develop and optimize fabrication processes for Al2O3-based PICs. You'll operate state-of-the-art semiconductor processing tools, conduct in-line characterization, and troubleshoot to ensure reliability and consistency. With expertise in lithography, etching, and deposition, you'll refine processes to enhance performance and integrate workflows seamlessly, and other duties as assigned. Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 4 years
  • Practical experience with semiconductor fabrication tools for lithography, etching, and deposition.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, with a knack for troubleshooting and optimizing semiconductor processes.
  • Familiarity with metrology and characterization tools like SEM, AFM, profilometry, and ellipsometry.
  • A highly structured, detail-focused approach to process development and execution.
  • Proficient in analyzing process data and identifying performance trends.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Solid planning abilities, with a talent for managing multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently.
  • Cleanroom Operations: Actively engage in a cleanroom setting, managing and maintaining semiconductor processing tools.
  • Process Development & Optimization: Design and refine fabrication processes, including ebeam lithography, photolithography, thin-film deposition (PVD, ALD, CVD), and dry/wet etching techniques.
  • Process Flow & Integration: Develop process integration workflows, adhere to standard procedures, and ensure consistent, reproducible results.
  • In-line Characterization: Use metrology tools (SEM, AFM, profilometry, ellipsometry, etc.) to evaluate process performance and quality.
  • Data Analysis & Process Control: Gather and analyze data to monitor process parameters, identify trends, and drive yield improvement.
  • Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve process-related challenges, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance process reliability and efficiency.
  • Planning & Documentation: Organize and execute process runs, document outcomes, and provide detailed reports to support R&D and production efforts.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate seamlessly with design, integration, and testing teams to ensure process development aligns with company objectives.

Physical Requirements:

  • Standing for extended periods while operating and maintaining precision equipment, as well as performing detailed manual tasks such as aligning wafers, loading/unloading materials, and adjusting complex machinery. Manual dexterity and the ability to work with fine-scale instruments. You must also be able to lift and carry light to moderate equipment (up to 20-30 lbs) and perform tasks that require hand-eye coordination and focus under strict process conditions.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
