Stryten Energy, with a long history in Lancaster County, operates a growing plastic injection molding facility in West Lampeter Township. We produce plastic components for car batteries and have a stable and growing customer base.

Ongoing review and analysis of injection molding and secondary operations: make recommendations and champion change by taking responsibility to improve molding, materials handling, and methods to simplify operations and reduce the cost of manufacturing. Work with other departments on packaging cost reductions, expediting tool repairs and changes, sampling new and changed molds and setups. Ensure manufacturing standards are correct and QS work instructions and procedures are followed. Performance can be measured by improved cycle time, scrap reduction, trained process technicians’ performance and meeting projects objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Observe and analyze injection molding and secondary operations: make recommendations to improve molding, and all secondary processes to simplify operations and reduce cost of manufacturing.
  • Develop cycle time reduction goals and facilitate activities to continuously reduce cycle time and product cost resulting in increased capacity and cost reduction.
  • Develop automation in molding, material handling and secondary operations using new methods in tooling, machine designs, and robots for complete assembly line production improvements.
  • Propose standard or method changes via ECN procedure to accurately reflect current business or show improvements.
  • Work with plant personnel and all suppliers on molding problems: i.e. parts filling, dimensional tolerances, and coloring. Find root cause and document and implement solutions.
  • Train and evaluate technicians in the best practices of maintaining process control and trouble shooting problems. Update the training checklist and skills matrix as Techs are trained.
  • Monitor daily production scrap and rework with all Technicians to eliminate processing caused scrap or rework.
  • Supplement the sampling of parts as required by sample procedure and assist in the starting up of presses following a plant shutdown.
  • Follow all Quality procedures, work instructions and follow safety guidelines.
  • Initiate Tool Room work order requests as needed to make mold improvements to address processing issues.
  • Evaluate the set-up sheets and process change sheets during production runs. Take action as required to ensure most current documents are being used and update database as required.
  • Complete projects as assigned, meeting cost and timetable objectives.
  • This list of” responsibilities” may be added to or subtracted from as best meets the needs of the business.
  • Mentor entry level technician’s by providing technical guidance, career development, and constructive feedback to help them grow their skills and confidence. This involves sharing experience, asking questions to guide problem-solving, and offering opportunities for hands-on practice and exposure to different projects.
  • Execute EWR and PPAP to ensure that parts meet customer quality standards by overseeing documentation, collaborating with other departments, and identifying/resolving process issues.
  • Assist in tool design, development, and maintenance used in manufacturing to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance product quality. Collaborate with shop personnel to implement best practices for tool storage, inspection, and maintenance.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field required.
  • 3-5 years of injection molding shop floor experience.
  • Six sigma certification is a strong plus.

Competencies, Skills, Knowledge

  • Ability to lead others and assist with employee development
  • Interest in and experience with problem solving of a Manufacturing Engineering nature.
  • Project Management and team leader skills.
  • Experience with tools such as SPC, PFMEA, IQ/PQ
  • Computer literate with respect to Microsoft and application software.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-motivated, can manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.

This position requires you to be on site at our Lampeter, PA location.

  • Off-shift work required on an as-needed basis
