  • Must have a deep passion for safety and establishing the capacity for team members working in the process to build in engineered controls that allow people to fail safely. Actively identifies and works to mitigate at-risk conditions and behaviors in the path of work.
  • Daily problem solving of issues to improve quality, operational productivity and down time (efficiency).
  • Targeted project work (short and long term) to drive solutions that bring new technology, innovation and resulting efficiencies and cost reduction within the assigned process.
  • Monitoring of key process variables while working daily to reduce process variation, establish product and process consistency, and develop new methods of control to improve the quality of the product and function of the operation.
  • In the path of project work and problem solving, the role identifies methods of sustaining the improvements through documentation of process knowledge, training and coaching operators and auditing the process to ensure established routines are maintained without deviation. Listens to operators and captures ‘tribal knowledge’ from experience into documentation.
  • Works with Industrialization Engineers to support structured product development through plant trials with analysis that generates valid conclusions.
  • Supports capital expenditure work by providing expertise in the design and upgrade of operational equipment.
  • Supports the work of the corporate Process Communities and Research & Development within the operation. Drives completion of actions with global initiatives associated with above plant expert audits within the operation.
  • Key performance indicators of primary focus that fall within the scope of work for process engineers and specialists (achieving established targets) include but are not limited to process yield loss, inspection yield loss, OEE (overall equipment efficiency), non-quality losses, cost per ton, rate of consumable product usage.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Technical responsibility oversees assigned areas which could include premium pipe deformation, stress relieving, threading, phosphating and other finishing activities. Additionally coupling and other accessory manufacturing.
  • Provides technical support in all aspects of the threading processes at assigned operation.
  • Drives process efficiency and quality through daily problem solving, pipe to pipe variation management and project work that produces sustainable results.
  • Supports a wide variety of projects managed by self and others including decarbonization, capital expenditure advisement and other work to further the improvement of key performance indicators through improvement of key performance variables.
  • Develops deep technical expertise with the process(es) of oversight and uses that knowledge to train, coach, develop standard work and drive quality and efficiency improvements. Must be a results-oriented individual who understands how the operation fits into the business strategy of the company.
  • Works alongside automation engineering to develop process control and modeling systems that interface with the equipment for data collection and process control in real time.
  • Supports the operational and maintenance teams when needed, including off hours, to aid in troubleshooting and fast-paced problem solving during operational or quality issues with technical expertise.
  • Capitalizing efficiently all project data, results and analysis into knowledge management documents and keeping all stakeholders informed with accurate, timely and concise reporting.

MANAGEMENT

  • Interacts well with hourly operators and builds relationships within the work teams. Establishes a strong shop floor presence. Minimizes ‘office time’.
  • Interacts well with operational leadership and functions as ‘part of the team’.
  • Must demonstrate ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
  • Leads by example, sets a good example for disciplined behavior within the process for the operators to follow.
  • Very capable of professional collaboration across the local department and the global organization.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 3+ years of experience in pipe threading operation and technical improvement highly with a high technical ceiling (ability to understand complex, interactive relationships between process variables, for example). Other heavy industry experience will be considered. Must be authorized to work in the USA without ex-pat status.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

  • B.S. Engineering minimum requirement, M.S. highly (industrial, electrical, mechanical) or foreign equivalent.
  • - Lean / Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher .
  • Continuous improvement mindset to pursue and benchmark within organization.
  • Work in an international environment, involving different cultures.

COMPETENCIES

  • Experience in deep problem solving and analysis of industrial problems with evidence of successful solutions provided and sustained.
  • Trained with experience in quality and lean methodologies for structured problem solving.
  • Strong capabilities with MS O365 applications and demonstrated use of contemporary database platforms.
  • Technical knowledge includes but is not limited to the CNC processing, geometric, dimensional and tolerancing requirements. Cycle time analysis and how to optimize.
  • Deep understanding of threading inspection and quality requirements for each profile.
  • Technical knowledge must include the standard monitoring and measuring equipment and practices necessary to collect process data.
  • Ability to use modern data analytical techniques.
