Durham Manufacturing is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to develop, maintain, and optimize our metal stamping and powder coating processes. Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team Support

  • Lead multiple process optimization projects with strong ownership and accountability.

  • Serve as a key liaison between Engineering, Production, Quality, and Maintenance.

  • Champion Lean manufacturing to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.

  • Track and report KPIs to support data-driven decision-making.

  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement CAPA actions.

  • Train operators and supervisors on new processes and equipment.

Process Development & Optimization

  • Develop and refine metal stamping or powder coating processes for both new and existing products.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform in-depth root cause analysis.

  • Improve productivity, reduce scrap, and maintain process stability.

Tooling & Equipment

  • Collaborate with toolmakers and design engineers on die/tool development.

  • Ensure proper setup, maintenance, and performance of all equipment.

  • Recommend tooling and equipment upgrades to support efficiency and quality goals.

Quality Assurance

  • Ensure processes meet internal and external quality standards.

  • Establish and maintain process control plans and conduct process audits.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and lead initiatives that reduce cycle time, minimize waste, and decrease production costs.

  • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and other improvement methodologies.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all processes meet regulatory and safety requirements.

  • Provide safety training to operators and production teams.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Develop clear and comprehensive SOPs, work instructions, and process flow diagrams.

  • Prepare reports related to production metrics, downtime, and improvement projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience in metal stamping or related manufacturing processes; powder coating experience a plus.

  • Strong understanding of metal stamping technologies, tooling, and materials.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and simulation tools.

  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and manufacturing standards.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with loud noise and varying temperatures.

  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs without assistance.

  • Must be able to handle parts, tools, and equipment as required.
