Job DescriptionJob Description

The Process Engineer plays a critical role within the engineering team at a leading stainless steel manufacturing facility in Columbia, SC. This on-site position involves upgrading, installing, and optimizing process equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities

• Participate in upgrades, rebuilds, installation, and start-up of process equipment for stainless steel bar manufacturing
• Analyze key process performance metrics and report outcomes to management
• Develop and review new equipment specifications to meet production and safety standards
• Support and implement solutions for equipment safety issues
• Provide technical assistance and serve as an interface for process, product, and maintenance matters
• Coordinate with contractors, equipment vendors, and suppliers on assigned projects
• Maintain and assist in developing standards, specifications, and procedures related to production, safety, and environmental compliance
• Utilize Permac to order parts and supplies and support equipment rate engineering and review
• Lead or participate in moderate-sized capital projects or project subsets
• Identify opportunities and contribute to overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) improvement initiatives
• Perform additional assigned duties and special projects as necessary

Required Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in an Engineering discipline ; two-year degree with three or more years of engineering support experience accepted (4 or 2 year degree is required) 
• Minimum three years’ experience in an engineering support or process engineering role
• Strong understanding of key business drivers alongside technical expertise
• Proven teamwork skills with excellent communication and process/project management abilities
• Experience with manufacturing systems including computer systems, steelmaking processes, material flow, quality systems, and process control techniques
• Robust analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications

• Three or more years’ experience specifically in process engineering
