Process Engineer in Black Rock

Job Description

At Eagan, we believe that a major driver of our ability to create value for our customers is our ability to continuously improve internally. Our ability to continuously improve is also essential to sustainably support our organizational growth. To continue on this path, we need team members who can see waste, use data and practical problem solving to improve processes, and help others build better ways of working. The Process Engineer will serve as a hands-on builder, facilitator, and internal partner who helps develop, maintain, and improve the systems that support operational excellence across the company. This is a high-potential role for a proven problem solver who is energized by continuous improvement, process discipline, automation, and helping build the groundwork to take Eagan to the next level.

\n

Core Responsibilities

\n

Operational Excellence Support and Execution: Support and execute operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the organization, from the shop floor through the front office. This role will identify waste, help standardize material and data flow, build practical visual systems, and influence others through hands-on engagement rather than formal management authority.

\n

Waste Identification and Prioritization: Facilitate or support one prioritized improvement activity per month, including Kaizen-style events, process observations, layout reviews, standard work development, or other targeted initiatives. The focus is on making steady, visible progress without overloading the organization with too many competing initiatives.

\n

Data Tracking and Metric Visualization: Build and maintain systems for measuring and tracking performance across the organization, including practical visual tools such as SQD boards, kanban systems, work center metrics, and other real-time indicators that help teams understand performance and act on problems.

\n

Continuous Improvement Culture: Help build and maintain a continuous improvement culture by providing practical lean education, coaching, and support to team members. Within the first 6–12 months, help establish an education structure and a simple process to capture, review, prioritize, and implement employee-driven improvement ideas.

\n

Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Action: Build, maintain, and facilitate a practical RCA process that helps the organization solve problems at the root cause level. Support teams in documenting issues, identifying causes, implementing corrective actions, tracking follow-up, and verifying effectiveness. Within 6–12 months, the process should be active and working through initial issues.

\n

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with leaders and team members across Operations, Materials, Customer Service, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align on opportunities, objectives, capacity, and priorities. Success in this role requires influence, follow-through, and trust-building rather than direct authority. Within 6 months, functional leads and other team members should view this person as a trusted improvement partner.

\n

MRP and Material Planning Support: Assist Materials and Operations with process improvements related to material flow, staging, inventory accuracy, and data-driven planning using Great Plains, Eagan’s ERP system. This role will support the connection between system-based planning and practical visual controls on the production floor, such as kanban and defined home locations.

\n

Automation/AI Ownership: Own the identification, prioritization, and implementation support for AI and automation opportunities that reduce repetitive, low value-added work across the business. This includes partnering with leadership and functional users to evaluate opportunities, define practical solutions, and help implement at least one meaningful automation or AI-enabled improvement tied to a top priority need.
