The Process Engineer will play a central role in developing process engineering designs and specifications for UIG air separation plant projects and commercial proposals. This position requires strong technical expertise in cryogenic air separation and vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) technologies, along with the ability to drive safe, efficient, and cost‐effective process solutions.


Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate and compare process design options, performing cost–benefit analyses to determine optimal system configurations and equipment selections.

• Conduct detailed process simulations and calculations; prepare process specifications; and deliver accurate process data to support the design and procurement of compressors, air chillers, adsorption systems (including VSA), distillation columns, cold boxes, control valves, relief devices, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, analyzers, cooling towers, and other air separation equipment.

• Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Heat & Material Balances (H&MBs) for air separation units.

• Participate in P&ID development, HAZOP reviews, plant commissioning and startup activities, technical risk assessments, safety and environmental evaluations, and troubleshooting of ASU and VSA systems.

• Manage assigned project phases to ensure on‐time, on‐budget completion.

• Review technical content of vendor proposals and verify compliance with project requirements, design criteria, and industry standards.

• Support the creation and execution of process performance test specifications for air separation plants.

• Collaborate with customers and suppliers to resolve technical issues and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle.

• Stay current with emerging technologies in air separation, adsorption processes, and industrial gas production.

• Contribute to the development of departmental best practices, tools, procedures, standard specifications, and data sheets.

• Maintain a Lessons Learned log and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.

• Demonstrate leadership in safety by consistently upholding and promoting company safety policies, procedures, and housekeeping standards.


Required Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical Engineering.

• Minimum of five years of experience in Cryogenic Air Separation and/or Non‐Cryogenic Adsorption Air Separation, including hands‐on exposure to Vacuum Swing Adsorption (VSA) systems.

• Proven experience developing PFDs and Heat & Material Balances.

• Proficiency with one or more process simulation tools.

• Strong knowledge of process equipment sizing, line sizing, material selection, and utility requirement calculations.

• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and effective problem‐solving abilities.
