Position Summary
The Process Engineer – Manufacturing is responsible for supporting and optimizing production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity standards are met. This role focuses on process analysis, time studies, line balancing, documentation, and continuous improvement in a high-volume electronics and server manufacturing environment.
This is a hands-on, on-site role supporting daily manufacturing operations and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Process Engineering & Optimization
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes using industrial engineering and time & motion (chrono) analysis
- Conduct line balancing activities to improve throughput and efficiency
- Identify process gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions
- Support production capacity planning, labor requirements, and tooling needs
- Develop and support devices, fixtures, and tools to aid manufacturing operations
Manufacturing Support
- Provide daily support to manufacturing lines to address quality, efficiency, and productivity issues
- Investigate and develop action plans for production issues such as OOB conditions, inspection failures, and failure to meet production rates
- Support process and product changes through PCNs and ECs
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Test, and Engineering teams to resolve issues and improve workflow
Documentation & Training
- Prepare and maintain process documentation including LOBs, SOPs, SFCs, E-SOPs, layouts, and standard work
- Ensure documentation is updated when process changes occur
- Train operators, repair technicians, inspectors, and engineering assistants as required
- Record all training activities in Lenovo systems
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all processes comply with Lenovo quality standards and productivity targets
- Support compliance with EHS, ergonomics, medical, and fire department requirements
- Apply Lean and continuous improvement methodologies to reduce waste and defects
Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or technical certification required
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
- 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering
- Experience in electronics or server hardware manufacturing
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work instructions
- Familiarity with ESD-safe handling procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lift and handle manufacturing components safely
Qualifications
- Experience conducting time and motion studies and line balancing
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools (PDCA, Fishbone/Ishikawa, FMEA, 8D)
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification
- Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing process documentation
- Background supporting high-volume production environments
