Process Engineer
Job DescriptionJob Description
We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our team! We are looking for a candidate experienced in steel manufacturing to implement manufacturing techniques, processes, tooling and machinery to maximize efficiency.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for processing, machining and material handling using logical sequencing and manufacturing best practices to achieve cost targets.
- Participate in corrective action meetings to investigate root causes and implement engineering changes as needed.
- Assist to resolve manufacturing process issues and in the resolution of complex manufacturing process issues.
- Reviews design and manufacturability. Research and evaluate commercially available tools and equipment to support manufacturing activities. Designs special tools as required.
- Troubleshoots existing processes to improve safety, quality, cost and efficiency.
- Incorporates engineering changes on work in process.
- Inspects performance of machinery, equipment and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.
- Assist estimating group with quoting new jobs and programs.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by researching efficiency improvements and developing proposals; Includes the overseeing and implementation of improved procedures.
- Design and oversee the manufacturing of in-house machining fixtures. (Mill, Lathe, Assembly, CMM, etc.).
- Works with Quality Department developing and processing PFMEA and control plans for all new product launches.
- Perform other tasks as designated from management.
Qualifications
- Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years demonstrated steel manufacturing CNC machining experience.
- Extensive knowledge in manufacturing processes and procedures, specifically in a machine shop.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blue prints.
- Proficient in GD&T, Solid Works and CAD/CAM software.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow. Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams.
