Company Description Rodem – Smart Sanitary Processor. The Process Design Engineer acts as an engineering administrator to design customer’s sanitary processes, select and size process equipment, generate project cost estimates and customer proposal documents, and support Rodem execution teams after work is awarded. They work with the Rodem sales team to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. You must live in the Cincinnati, OH vicinity within driving distance to our corporate office.

Role Description The Process Design Engineer is a full-time, role based in Cincinnati, OH. This role is responsible for developing sanitary process designs and engineering solutions for dairy, food, beverage, and high-purity clients, from concept through detailed design. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing process calculations, sizing and specifying equipment, preparing P&IDs and layout drawings, and supporting sanitary design standards and compliance. The engineer collaborates with sales, project management, and installation teams to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with customer requirements. Additional duties may include supporting wastewater treatment solutions, troubleshooting process issues, and providing technical guidance during system integration, commissioning, and ongoing improvements.

Qualifications
\n
1. Be familiar with equipment design and sizing of equipment (pumps, valves, mixproof valve groups, heat exchangers, instruments, etc). Be aware of internal Rodem tools and OEM website tools. Utilize Sr. Engineers for design support on challenging applications.
\n
2. Utilize ACAD to generate system P&IDs when necessary to help communicate customer designs. When design conducted by others, ensure P&ID design is adequate and be able to read/understand/scrutinize the work of others.
\n
3. Stay up to date on new OEM products, benefits of the design, and share details with the rest of the engineering team.
\n
4. Understand the Rodem project quoting process. Work with account managers to cultivate/design opportunities, hold review meetings with management, and ultimately secure business.
\n
5. Understand internal Rodem templates and be able to correctly utilize these to obtain Rodem costs and offer customer proposals based on designs.
\n
6. Effectively communicate with Rodem project managers, procurement specialists, and installers with respect to design, drawings, BOM ordering, and scope of work.

Obstacles:
\n
1. Decipher limited customer design scopes and being able to work with them to an end solution when initial requests and bid packages lack enough details.
\n
2. Managing multiple projects and designs at once, being able to bounce back and forth as needed when customer schedules change.
\n
a. Handle both execution / commissioning project functions with the project manager / install teams as well as design functions with sales account managers during the quotation phases.

3. Winning bids in a highly competitive environment. Ensure transparency in cost contingency assumptions so the Rodem sales team can make accurate margin decisions.

Education and Experience:
\n
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. The possession of an Associate degree, technical degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering or other related field is required.

Bachelor’s degree and extensive experience in industry design experience in relation to fluid sanitary piping.

Individual must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing. Be able to collect, analyze, and interpret data from a wide variety of sources and take appropriate actions. Demonstrate the ability to carry on a business conversation with business owner and decision makers. Also must have a working knowledge of the Microsoft office suite including (Word, Excel, and PPT).
