Job DescriptionJob DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques in the design and operation of automated process control systems and their components. Perform design and maintenance functions on all software and hardware for digital control, PLC, and data acquisition systems. Troubleshoot control system failures and make necessary repairs. Make systems modifications to correct errors and optimize system performance. Configuration of DCS applications such as motor starts, PID control loops, ladder logic control, etc.
  • Install operating system software upgrades and program fixes, install, configure, and maintain servers and process control workstations, troubleshoots and resolves hardware, software, and communications problems, performs database administration functions for both real-time and historical databases, maintains interfaces with field devices.
  • These control systems consist mainly of Schneider and Modicon Programmable Logic Controllers, and Pi Historian. Also in use is a network system.
  • In addition, responsible for originating, engineering, specifying, and procuring material for new control equipment installations and existing control system upgrades and additions.
  • Work closely with management, instrumentation technicians, electricians, environmental reporting, production personnel and mechanical maintenance disciplines.
  • Participates in the development of systems documentation, trains operations and maintenance staff on how to use tools and applications developed.
  • The plant operates seven-day a week, 24 hours per day, which requires some occasional weekend coverage and after-hour coverage from you. At times significant overtime work is required.
  • Utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to complete work orders.
  • Inspecting and examining machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
  • Keeping detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation.
  • Adhering to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances.
  • Maintaining a clean and environmentally safe work area.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Instrumentation or Electrician Technician degree with at least five years of experience in an industrial setting. In addition, they must demonstrate an aptitude for understanding and manipulating digital control systems and computer-based data management systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial 3-phase electricity and devices.
  • Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.
  • Control graphics programming and troubleshooting.
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Working knowledge of safety standards of equipment and lockout/tag out.
  • Must be able to read electrical schematics and have knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC'S).
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Experience with forklifts, scissor lifts, and articulating man lifts, etc.
  • Maintain and calibration, and repairs of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, and electronic measuring, recording, indicating, and control instruments / equipment.
  • Strong work ethic, good judgment, and decision-making abilities.
  • Work Indoors/outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, climb stairs, reach, and stoop frequently as well as lift up to approximately 50 lbs. with occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to work at high heights. Good vision, hearing, vision, speaking, and finger dexterity skills are required as well as the ability to perform close work.
  • Capability to look at the large picture and performing root cause analysis.
  • Develop contingencies for problems that arise while understanding the consequences of the options.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and analyzing difficult machinery and process issues.
  • Use basic and intermediate mathematical computations for problem solving.
