Let’s talk.\n\nWe’re working closely with one of London’s most respected and fastest growing M&E contractors who are actively looking to hire a Principal Technical Manager – Mechanical. This is a key hire for the business as they continue to deliver some of the most complex commercial, mixed-use and large-scale shell & core projects in the capital.\n\nThis is not just another "sign-off and move on" design management role — you'll be the technical lead across pre-construction and delivery, shaping how major projects are designed, coordinated, and brought to life. The business has a strong culture of rewarding performance, with consistent investment in staff development.\n\nThe role will suit someone who:\n\nIs technically strong on mechanical systems and wants to be involved from strategy and planning through to delivery\n\nEnjoys mentoring and leading others (including Engineers, Project Managers and Design Managers)\n\nLikes working closely with commercial and operational teams to ensure buildability and performance are baked into the design\n\nWants to work in a business where your opinion matters and your results are rewarded\n\nKey responsibilities will include:\n\n•\tLeading mechanical design reviews across high-value projects\n\n •\tSupporting project bids and early-stage strategy workshops\n\n •\tCoaching engineers, design managers and project leaders technically\n\n •\tOverseeing technical governance across multiple live jobs\n\n •\tEngaging with client teams and internal departments on all things mechanical\n\n •\tDriving innovation and setting technical standards\n\n •\tWorking closely with delivery teams to ensure coordinated, buildable design\n\nThe ideal candidate:\n\n•\tHas strong mechanical building services experience (ideally with an M&E contractor)\n\n •\tCan manage design and technical processes from Stage 2 to handover\n\n •\tUnderstands fast-paced project delivery in commercial fit-out or major new build\n\n •\tHas previously worked on projects upwards of £10m MEP\n\n •\tIs confident representing technical issues at client and main contractor meetings\n\n •\tHas a minimum of 8–10 years' experience in a senior technical role\n\nIn return, they offer:\n\n•\tA senior leadership role on landmark projects\n\n •\tClear scope for progression in a business that's scaling fast\n\n •\tCompetitive base salary + strong performance-related bonus\n\n •\tCompany car or car allowance\n\n •\tTravel paid to site (subject to advisory rates)\n\n •\tPrivate medical, enhanced pension and wellness support\n\n •\t26 days holiday + bank holidays\n\n •\tIndustry-leading parental leave\n\nIf you want a role where you're respected for your technical leadership, given room to operate, and rewarded for the results you help deliver — then get in touch in confidence
