Job Description
Principle Structural Engineer\n\nLocation: London\n\nSalary: Competitive \n\nThe Principal Engineer plays a key role in delivering projects on time and within budget. As the company continues to grow, the Principal Engineer will take on increasing responsibility for leading a team of engineers and designers, overseeing both technical output and team performance.\n\nKey Experience:\n\nIn-depth knowledge of relevant structural codes and standards (e.g., British, European).\n\nStrong capability in structural scheme design and preparation of associated design calculations.\n\nExperienced in producing key project documentation, including:\n\nBasis of Design\n\nMaterial Specifications\n\nMaterial Take-offs\n\nScopes of Work\n\nTechnical Reports\n\nSkilled in interdisciplinary coordination and oversight of design processes.\n\nProficient in collaborating with CAD technicians and using software such as Revit and AutoCAD.\n\nExperienced in structural analysis and design of foundations and geotechnical structures.\n\nProficient in engineering software such as Statica, Axis VM FEM Modelling, and Tekla Tedds.\n\nAbility to lead structural design while accommodating requirements from other disciplines.\n\nProvides technical support and mentorship to less experienced team members.\n\nContributes to the development and maintenance of a "lessons learned" knowledge base.\n\nPromotes a positive and proactive design and office culture.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nLead the successful delivery of multidisciplinary engineering projects.\n\nAct as primary client contact and ensure delivery aligns with client objectives and expectations.\n\nEnsure technical accuracy and timely completion of all deliverables, in line with agreed budgets.\n\nUndertake key project tasks including calculations, drawings, sketches, and reports.\n\nProvide mentorship, technical guidance, and training to colleagues.\n\nSupport professional development of junior engineers and designers.\n\nCollaborate effectively across disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.\n\nBenefits:\n\nStructured career development through an in-house IStructE Chartership support programme.\n\nPaid professional membership fees.\n\nFriendly, dynamic, and collaborative office environment.\n\nPerformance-based bonuses.\n\nRegular staff and social events.\n\nRequirements:\n\nMEng (Hons) in Structural Engineering (or equivalent).\n\nMinimum of 8 years’ post-qualification experience within a structural engineering practice.\n\nChartered Membership of the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE).\n\nProven experience in leading project teams and managing delivery to time and budget.\n\nProactive and client-focused, with the ability to foster strong working relationships.\n\nStrong leadership, time management, and organisational skills under pressure.\n\nEffective communicator, problem solver, and commercially aware.\n\nConfident liaising with all members of the design and construction teams
