Job Description

Principal Engineer (Structures)12-month initial contract | Outside IR35Hybrid working, office in DorsetWe're looking for an experienced Chartered Engineer (ICE/IStructE) to support the design, assessment, and delivery of bridge and highway structure projects.Key Responsibilities

• Assist with scheme preparation, technical assessments, and information gathering.
• Produce or support structural designs and contract documents.
• Liaise with contractors, utilities, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, sustainability, and compliance.

Required Experience

• Chartered Engineer + RQF Level 4-7 in a relevant engineering field.
• Strong background in bridge/highway structure design (BS, DMRB, Eurocodes).
• Proficient with FE/Grillage software (e.g., LUSAS, ENCAD).
• Experience delivering and supervising structural projects.
• Able to carry out bridge inspections to IMHS standards.
• Working knowledge of CDM 2015.
• Confident communicator and able to oversee junior team members.

• Regular stakeholder communication in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to travel as required.
