Leading UK Engineering Consultancy
I am working with a well established and highly respected engineering consultancy looking to appoint a Structural Technical Manager / Principal Structural Engineer to join their growing team in the Kent area.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior / Principal or Associate Structural Engineer ready to step into a broader leadership role, combining hands on technical delivery with team management and project oversight.
The Role:
You’ll play a key role in delivering a wide range of projects across residential, commercial, education, retail, and industrial sectors, taking ownership of both technical outputs and team performance.
Working closely with a Director, you will:
- Lead the production of designs, calculations, reports, and drawings (including Revit models)
- Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are met
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams
- Attend site visits, inspections, and design meetings
- Monitor and manage health & safety risks (CDM compliance)
- Contribute to resource planning and project programming
- Support the ongoing development of junior team members
What I'm Looking For:
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered, or close to achieving Chartership (ICE or IStructE)
- Strong experience delivering multiple structural projects
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage project delivery
- Knowledge of Eurocodes & UK Building Regulations
- Use of materials including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry
- Modern methods of construction (MMC/modular)
- Experience with design software such as Tedds, Tekla, MasterSeries or similar
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Commercial awareness and understanding of project risk
