Job Description
A global manufacturing company is looking to hire a Sr. Safety Specialist to oversee their safety programs at one of their key facilities in the Minneapolis MN area.
Reporting to the Global EHS Leader, this individual will be responsible for developing and implementing safety programs and policies, leading safety audits, conducting risk assessments, leading ergonomic assessments, as well as maintaining safety culture in both an administrative and hands-on capacity.
The Role:
- Act as subject matter expert regarding core safety program elements (e.g. Lockout/Tagout; Electrical Safety, hazard communication, industrial hygiene, machine guarding, Laceration prevention, incident investigation, OSHA compliance).
- Conduct safety compliance audits.
- Recommend corrective and preventative measures.
- Conduct risk assessments on equipment and operational processes to identify critical controls, priority improvements, and actions to reduce or eliminate risks.
- Assess ergonomic risks and identify solutions to address injuries and prevent future occurrences.
- Review and update multiple company safety standards. Create new standards as warranted.
- Partner with Operations to support their safety leadership, including reporting incidents and near misses, leading investigations, and identifying solutions.
- Prepare and deliver training to support safety compliance and effective implementation of company safety programs and practices.
- Coordinate and/or support preparation of OSHA required records and submittal of agency reports.
- Manage workers compensation claims in collaboration with TPA and corporate Risk Management.
- Conduct or coordinate industrial hygiene sampling and noise monitoring events.
The Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field
- Subject matter expert in OSHA and other occupational health and safety standards
- ~10+ years implementing safety and hazard prevention programs that relate to a manufacturing environment
- Experience developing and delivering safety training
- Strong interpersonal skills, and verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to set your own work priorities, work independently, and meet time-sensitive deadlines
- Detailed problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative solutions to challenges
- Comfortable and enjoys regular floor presence and direct interaction with employees
