Principal Product Development Engineer
Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummary:
Develops, directs, and executes plans for major segments of complex projects. Compiles and analyzes operational, test and research data to establish technical specification and performance standards for newly designed or modified products/processes. Reviews progress of projects against design criteria and standards; recommends appropriate revisions. Develops and contributes to the development of proprietary positions for Switchback. Takes a leadership role in the application and advancement of technologies developed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
Leadership
- Work closely with customers and others to define product specifications and product realization.
- Perform engineering and technical work involved in planning, organizing and coordinating detailed information required to develop new products from concept to final product realization.
- Perform detailed product design through adherence to established design control processes.
- Develop and manage strategy to bring products through the engineering cycle.
- Budget operational activities to ensure continuous funding based on appropriate priorities.
- Coordinate intellectual property strategy.
Development
- Design prototypes and feasibility models for proof of concept testing.
- Assume responsibility for overall device design and support the manufacture of new and existing products.
- Devise new approaches to complex problems through revisions of standard technical principles.
- Help prepare project plans, specifications, and schedules for new product development.
- Work closely with other engineers, technicians, contract manufacturers, assemblers, or other support personnel to assist in debugging and optimizing system performance.
Education/Experience:
- 10+ years experience in engineering
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Must have hands-on experience and knowledge of QSR CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 and other relevant standards
