We are seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant to help lead and expand our Los Angeles office. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a seasoned environmental professional who thrives in both technical execution and client strategy and is motivated by the opportunity to shape the trajectory of a regional practice. As a Principal Consultant, you will serve as a senior technical authority, trusted advisor to private-sector clients, and strategic leader driving operational and business growth. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation of project experience, client engagement, and leadership excellence along with a natural inclination for expanding relationships and opening doors.


The Role

· Serve as a technical lead and advisor for clients including real estate developers, legal teams, private equity, and major corporations.

· Guide environmental projects through all phases—from site investigation and risk evaluation to remediation and closure.

· Identify and pursue growth opportunities, leveraging your network and market knowledge to strengthen Terraphase’s presence in Southern California.

· Collaborate with executive and regional leadership to drive office growth, strategic hires, and project delivery excellence.

· Mentor and support junior and mid-level staff through technical development and career progression.

· Provide senior oversight on regulatory strategy, work plans, QA/QC review, and field execution.

· Represent Terraphase at industry events and through professional networks.


Who are you

· 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, with an emphasis in remediation, due diligence, or site redevelopment.

· Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and maintain high standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

· Track record of building and sustaining client relationships, with a proactive and consultative approach.

· Deep technical knowledge in California regulatory frameworks (e.g., DTSC, RWQCB, LARWQCB) and private-sector project delivery.

· Entrepreneurial mindset with the drive to shape a regional office’s success through client development and leadership.

· Strong communication, emotional intelligence, and a collaborative leadership style aligned with Terraphase’s culture.

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related field.

Salary

Compensation for this position is based on years of experience, technical expertise, technical education, and geographic location with a range of $138,000-$180,000.
