Job\ntitle:\nPrincipal Engineer –\nElectrical Engineering (Power)

Location:\nCoventry.\n(Hybrid\n– 1 day a week / 1 day a fortnight on site) Dependent on business\nneeds.

Salary:\nUp to £61,500 (Commensurate\nwith skills and experience)
\n

What you’ll be\ndoing:
\n
- Design and develop solutions to a range of common\ndesign situations/problems using\nNX
- Understand and apply a range of fundamental design\nprocesses, tools, systems and\ntechniques
- Develop and produce ways of working within NX to\nprovide design\nintent
- Work as a member of a multi-functional team created\nto accomplish tasks (e.g. Capgemini, Siemens, IBM and\nSSNA)
- Begin to schedule own work to meet target time\nscales and budget demand using tools and techniques with guidance\nfrom their supervisor
- Continually seek ways to improve, processes,\ntoolsets, systems, techniques and the generic\nworkplace
- Take an active role in high risk and high\ncomplexity tasks with low-risk involvement, supported by the\nproject leader or equivalent

Your skills\nand experiences:
\n
- BEng (Hons) / MEng or\nequivalent and CEng (or be able to satisfy requirements for\nCEng)
- Demonstrable experience of\nengineering lifecycle
- Understanding of at least\none of the following areas: Power system modelling; generators;\nswitchgear; protection; power\nelectronics
- In depth understanding of\nPower System Architecture, Power and Distribution,\nProtection and Co-ordination or Power Earth Fault\nMonitoring
- Experience of working within\na relevant Engineering role to industry codes and\nstandards

The Coventry\nteam:
\n
The team supports the\nEngineering Manager and external specialists during development and\nanalysis of platform power systems.\nThe Principal Engineer shall\nact as team lead, managing the day-to-day activities of the team\nand the production of deliverables. The Principal Engineer shall be\nresponsible for developing and maintaining the competency and\nskills of the team, project plan and schedule project activities,\nwhile managing the resolution of any related issues. We offer\nrelocation packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting\neligibility\ncriteria.
