Principal Electrical Engineer\n\nRemote with occasional visits to the office\n\nLocation - Manchester OR London OR Newcastle OR Glasgow\n\nContract role - 6 months rolling\n\nInside IR35 - £65 / hour Umbrella\n\nA Principal Electrical Engineer is required to join a design consultancy on a 6-month rolling contract. The role is remote, but you MUST be willing to occasionally travel to either Manchester, London, Newcastle or Glasgow (dependent on your location). This role will be working in the Energy Transition industry working on low-carbon projects at all stages of maturity, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Design, FEED, Value Engineering and Detailed Design.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nLead and support the development of practical, cost-effective and innovative engineering solutions in collaboration with wider project teams.\nDeliver electrical engineering projects from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design.\nPrepare and develop electrical deliverables including single line diagrams, cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, containment design, switchgear configuration philosophies and bills of materials/quantities.\nAssist in developing equipment package designs and participate in technical evaluations of vendor proposals.\nAssess the condition, performance and risks associated with electrical assets, identifying opportunities and intervention needs.\nContributing to tender submittals for EC&I work, as well as multidisciplinary tenders.Requirements\n\nA relevant engineering degree\nWorking towards chartership\nSignificant work experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance or testing.\nThe capability and motivation to take a lead role in developing electrical deliverables or assessing assets under construction or in operation.\nStrong knowledge of the design, construction and operation of power and energy projects.\nProven understanding of the design process, including working with scopes, design concepts, calculations and documentation, and/or experience with commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing of medium- and high-voltage systems and equipment.
