Principal Control Systems Engineer – Defence Sector

Hybrid (UK-wide travel ~10%) | Full-Time | UK Citizenship Required | SC Clearance Required

My client is seeking an experienced Principal Control Systems Engineer with strong PLC and SCADA expertise to support the design, development, and ongoing maintenance of platform management systems.



You’ll be working on advanced infrastructure solutions in a highly regulated defence environment.



Key Responsibilities:

Capture and translate customer requirements into technical solutions.



*



Design, develop and test Siemens PLC control systems (S7-300/400).



*



Create and maintain SCADA interfaces and communication protocols (e.g. Profibus, Profinet, Modbus).



*



Produce high-quality technical documentation.



*



Support full software development lifecycle including commissioning and in-service support.



*



Contribute to proposals and contract changes as needed.



✅ About You:



*



5+ years’ experience in PLC/SCADA environments (preferably Siemens).



*



Strong knowledge of fault-tolerant, high availability, and safety-integrated systems.



*



Skilled in networking and industrial communication standards.



*



Background in Defence, Maritime, Aerospace, or other regulated sectors (e.g. Oil & Gas).



*



Degree or equivalent in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation, or Systems Engineering.
