This is an excellent opportunity to join my client, a trusted, well-established Multidisciplinary Consultancy looking to broaden their geographical reach by establishing a brand new office location in Scotland. Renowned for lending their expertise to a diverse array of projects across the landscape architecture, planning, and civil engineering fields, they are seeking a motivated, capable Principal Civil Engineer with extensive knowledge of infrastructure design who is willing to take on a number of challenging projects. You will help build and lead a new team of design professionals, based near the vibrant, culturally-diverse city of Glasgow.

Responsibilities for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:



Winning and working on a number of exciting engineering developments in a design capacity

Managing the day-to-day running of engineering projects, including aspects such as budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, and delivery/implementation

Providing support and mentorship to colleagues throughout their careers, encouraging Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Managing clients and stakeholders across the public and private sectors

Preparing, checking, amending, and submitting technical documents, such as reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments, and method statements

Enforcing company policies, procedures, and best practice

Upholding the appropriate health and safety standards at all times

Contributing to the company's business development strategies, acting as a representative at client meetings, site visits, etc.



Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:



A Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering

Possess Chartered Status with a relevant, recognised Professional Body

Extensive experience of working in a design capacity, within a UK-based consultancy setting

Demonstrable experience of working with infrastructure (particularly highways and drainage), housing developments, and energy projects

Experience of drainage network modelling and earthworks design

Proficient in the use of various software packages (to include Civils 3D, MicroDrainage, AutoCAD, and similar)

Considerable experience of writing and amending a variety of reports for submission

Prior experience of leading both projects and people within the sector

Considerable experience of managing client and stakeholder relations

Outstanding organisation, time management, team leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

Hold a full, valid UK driving licence



Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Civil Engineer include:



A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering

Prior experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments

Some experience of preparing Transport Assessments

Experience of working in a public-facing role
