Primary Engineer – Transmission (m/f/d)

My client is a major energy infrastructure provider at the forefront of Australia's clean energy future. We’re the link between renewable and local communities, enabling the energy transition and powering every Victorian home and business.
As part of our Transmission Project Development Team, we’re now hiring a Primary Engineer to lead front-end substation and transmission line design – from early scoping to constructability and handover.
What You’ll Be Doing

Deliver robust technical solutions for substation and transmission line projects (up to 500kV)

Ensure compliance with AusNet’s engineering standards and customer requirements

Drive innovation and process improvement across design methods and technical reviews

Collaborate with AEMO, DBs, and external partners to ensure engineering excellence

Support project scoping, cost estimating, scheduling and stakeholder engagement

Lead on safety, sustainability, and constructability reviews throughout project lifecycles

Help mitigate technical risk by resolving complex engineering challenges early in design
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need to tick every box — but we’re seeking a strong mix of:

Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering

3+ years’ experience in utilities or HV design (up to 500kV)

Strong substation and primary electrical engineering skills

Familiarity with Victoria’s regulatory and energy market landscape

Confident problem-solver with the ability to work cross-functionally

Strong communicator and relationship-builder with internal and external stakeholders
-
A valid Victorian Driver’s Licence
