Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will have broad responsibility and leadership for the Digital Printing and NW Die-cutting Operation of the Hamilton Value Streams. You will help to implement strategies and initiatives to ensure a safe work environment, drive quality improvements, provide premier customer service, maximize profitable growth, develop a technically qualified workforce, reduce operating costs, inventories and lead times through continuous improvements. You will oversee day-to-day activities to meet daily, monthly, quarterly and yearly expectations.


Essential Functions:

  • Directs and coordinates the safety, quality and production activities of the Hamilton Pressroom and Narrow Web Diecut Areas by actively participating in the site’s Safety and Quality Management programs.
  • Ensures that programs and procedures are adopted to guard against industrial accidents and protect the safety and well-being of press room employees.
  • Works closely with Quality to address CIPs, implements process controls and conduct root cause analysis to identify ways to improve and maintain acceptable product quality.
  • Maintain quality through all processes; reacts to quality issues and responds appropriately and timely with true Root Cause Corrective Actions to track sustainability.
  • Partner with Quality Team to establish necessary standard operating procedures and work instructions to direct the most efficient, cost-effective and highest quality process.
  • Works with Plant Scheduling, OOR and CS to establish and reach hourly goals, so that we can maintain and improve our OTS efforts / goals.
  • Accountable for establishing and delivering productivity improvements to meet Press Hall and NW Diecut area targets.
  • Works with HR on Attendance Tracking, 30-60-90 Day Plans and Develop Coaching and/or Action Plans with team members as needed for problem resolution.
  • Leads and implement continuous improvements for cost reduction, quality assurance and production with both Supervisors and Leads that are direct reports through regular engagement.
  • Works cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of Lean and Belonging through Daily MDI Ripple Boards, Shift Huddles and Operator Engagement.
  • Reviews Key Performance Indicators (Daily, Weekly and Monthly) to ensure area is on track to meet overall departmental objectives.
  • Develop an understanding of lean manufacturing techniques to implement process improvements, lead kaizen events, and direct projects for the optimal use of manufacturing resources.
  • Ensure employees are trained in all aspects of their jobs to include safety, quality and productivity, by establishing training checklists to oversee results and operator development.
  • Ensure adherence to preventative maintenance tasks and procedures as outlined by Equipment Suppliers and Maintenance Team.
  • Works closely with the supervisors, account management and sales to support new product introduction and product redesigns.
  • Drive process development to decrease waste, improve clocking of labor/materials to improve material flow and decrease WIP and Bottlenecks.
  • Work together professionally in a team environment with co-workers and other department personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment including lean/flow manufacturing with relevant exposure to HP indigo printing technology.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or 7+ years equivalent experience (significantly and directly related)
  • Have working knowledge of lean and/or six sigma concepts with demonstrated success.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suite of products
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience
  • HP Indigo series 3, 4, or 6 certifications.
