Job Description
Overview:
Manage preconstruction activities for assigned projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality objectives are achieved. Oversee estimating, bidding, and design coordination as needed. Build and maintain strong subcontractor partnerships to support project and business development goals. This position is based in Allentown, PA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the bidding process from start to finish—solicit, review, analyze, and recommend bids for conceptual estimates, hard bids (GMP and lump sum), and major change orders.
- Prepare or assist with detailed scopes of work to support accurate estimating.
- Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and vendors.
- Review and interpret project documents, specifications, general conditions, and schedule constraints that impact pricing and bids.
- Support project buyout activities in coordination with project management.
- Maintain and update cost and vendor databases.
- Assist in subcontractor and vendor prequalification.
- Stay current on construction materials, market pricing, and industry trends.
- Continuously expand construction knowledge, including systems, means and methods, technology, and codes.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Experience working at a commercial general contractor
- Strong knowledge of construction management, estimating, bidding, purchasing, and subcontractor coordination.
- Familiarity with design and approval processes, including building code compliance.
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial or industrial estimating
- Excellent communication, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Maxwell Pro Contractor is beneficial.
