Power System Engineer

A rapidly growing smart energy technology company based in Sheffield is seeking a Power Systems Engineer to support the commissioning and ongoing development of cutting-edge Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This role is particularly suited to an experienced Commissioning Engineer looking to transition into a more engineering-led position, with a focus on Power Conversion and Battery Management Systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Join the Commissioning Team with particular responsibility for:
* Power Conversion Systems (PCS) – ideally including Sungrow and EPC-based platforms
* Battery Management Systems (BMS) and Site Battery Management Systems (SBMS)
* Support the configuration, commissioning, and optimisation of BESS components
* Assist with troubleshooting and system validation during deployment and testing phases
* Provide feedback to design and R&D teams to inform product improvement
* Undertake occasional site visits – no more than 3–5 days per month on average
Ideal Experience & Skills:
* Hands-on experience commissioning and configuring PCS, particularly Sungrow or similar platforms
* Strong understanding of BMS/SBMS and their role in energy storage safety and performance
* Practical knowledge of electrical systems and control integration in energy storage
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, logic diagrams, and commissioning document
* Experience in microgrid design is a plus, but not essential
