Power Plant Mechanic

Job Overview

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for mechanical work in support of the overall facility operation and in maintaining operation of the power plant. Maintenance Mechanic?will be responsible for performing various aspects of mechanical maintenance on rotation machinery and equipment, boilers and support systems, cranes, structural supports and equipment, piping systems.

Key Responsibilities

Performs a wide variety of mechanical repairs, PM's, and fabrication, including pipefitting, rigging, assembly and disassembly of all types of plant operation equipment, conveyors, piping structural reinforced plastic, and sheet metal systems.

Dismantles, overhauls, reassembles, and adjusts turbines, generators, boilers, pumps, valves, and all other auxiliary equipment.

Inspects and lubricates all plant equipment routinely and makes necessary adjustments to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently.

Performs heavy lifting and rigging. Uses burning torch and welding equipment to perform repair welding, mechanical repairs, piping, and valve packing. Performs integrity tests on piping and other plant equipment.

Plan details of jobs assigned, develops, and uses sketches, blueprints, and complex drawings.

Qualifications

GED/HS Diploma or 5 years' experience in power plant maintenance

Experience with boilers, generators, cranes, soot blowers, motors, turbines, condensers, and conveyors a

Welding experience a plus.

Physical Demands

Walk, stand, sit, climb and be able to handle temperature changes including extreme heat.

Be able to lift/carry 50lbs and push/pull 100lbs.

Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.

Occasionally is exposed to outside heights as high as 225 feet above ground level and frequently works off scaffolding and ladders.

Shift Work

Four 10-hour days; M-Th or Tu-F. After the training period will be placed on-call rotation for night and weekend coverage. Shifts may change during outages.
