Job Description: Subject Matter Expert (SME) - Power Electronics
The SME is responsible for the development and validation of electric vehicle power electronics and electrified vehicle systems/devices for passenger cars and trucks. The role involves developing power electronic devices DVP & R, defining and executing all required development/validation testing to meet functional objectives, ensuring compliance with program goals, and participating in supplier assessments and post-test inspection reviews, including detailed failure analysis. The SME will work closely with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure designs are robust, meet specifications, and are defect-free. Responsibilities also include testing finished products for quality, recommending design improvements, and developing best practices globally for Power Electronics Charging System components.
The SME will mentor and train engineers in hardware design topology, analyze projects for performance, drive strategies to meet regulatory requirements (including FUSA and ETI), and collaborate with the quality department to define hardware limits and test cycles. The role requires staying updated with industry best practices, recommending future strategies, leading technical problem solving during DVP & R development, and improving development methods through virtual hardware. The SME will also support production launch engineers and provide technical leadership for the Center of Excellence teams.
Additional responsibilities include defining and executing bench development/validation testing to achieve all functional objectives and ensuring compliance with global program requirements. The SME will develop and promote best practices across all Power Electronics hardware charging system commodities.
