Portfolio Manager

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for the centralized management of a portfolio of programs and projects to achieve Oceaneering’s strategic objectives.  The Portfolio Manager balances conflicting demands among portfolio components, allocates resources based on Oceaneering priorities and capacity, and integrates management principles and sound practices to deliver business value aligned with Oceaneering strategic objectives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar technical field.
  • 15+ years of project management experience, including tracking and planning projects in a technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience working with business stakeholders within a matrix environment.
  • PMP Certification or achieved within 3 years.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
  • Technical writing and editing skills.
  • Understand interdependencies between technology, operations and business needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage design/build of complex mechanical systems involving structural and mechanical components, electronics, and hydraulics.
  • Understanding and experience negotiating contract terms and conditions (FAR/DFAR/OTA).
  • The ability to understand financial statements and effect positive financial statement outcomes.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills; including personnel management and mentoring. 
  • Capability to interface with customers/prospects for project execution, obtaining follow-on work, and developing new business.
  • Ability to support technical reviews of various documentation deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and balance multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Excellent Knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.
  • Strong skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office products.

Compensation $143,800.00 - $229,600.00 

 

 

  • Manage portfolio consistent with Oceaneering values and guidelines with respect to safety, quality, and business ethics.
  • Apply knowledge of portfolio management competencies to manage the core elements of a project’s integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resources, communications, risks, procurement and stakeholders to meet project requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of communication, leadership, management, cognitive abilities, effectiveness, and professionalism to lead the project teams in meeting their objectives.
  • Assess program performance and aim to maximize ROI
  • Work with and provide reports to Business Development staff for CRM, opportunity identification and tracking, and B&P tasks
  • Grow the Portfolio book of business through Program Development (organic growth from existing contracts)
  • Support divisional growth through capture management and proposing new work in the Portfolio as led by BD
  • Decide on suitable Portfolio level strategies and objectives consistent with OTECH division.
  • Coordinate and work with other PfM to resolve problems at the lowest reasonable level 
  • Lead and evaluate project managers and other staff
  • Assist the VP/GM in determining the most effective and productive methods to enhance divisional and program capabilities, safety, quality, UDC control, and applying value engineering.
  • Formulate methods and processes to perform program goals in the most efficient and productive manner.  Position requires frequent application of original and independent thinking in developing methods, products or systems.
  • Make decisions and take independent action, following broad objectives on strategic and operational matters affecting the Portfolio.  Decisions are subject to guidance from executive/senior management.  This may include determining the priority of projects, personnel requirements and controlling overhead costs.
  • Resolve conflicts within the Portfolio (e.g. staffing competition)
  • Prepare reports for VP/GM and Directors, including monthly performance reports, annual planning efforts, and forecasting.
  • Support the company’s objective of continuous improvement by reviewing, incorporating and contributing to lessons learned, and suggesting changes to process and procedure to improve the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of project execution.
