We have an exciting opportunity for a Portable Life Support System (PLSS) Project Engineer to join the team with Mb Solutions, a teammate company.

As a Portable Life Support System (PLSS) Project Engineer you will:

  • Perform project engineering functions supporting the spacesuit Portable Life Support System (PLSS), including hardware development, assembly, and maintenance
  • Define, develop, procure, and build new ground support equipment (GSE) and test support equipment (TSE) needed for the evaluation of spacesuit hardware
  • Plan and execute hardware troubleshooting to investigate mechanical and electrical failures within flight hardware, development test articles, or test support hardware
  • Develop essential documentation for the system including assembly procedures, test plans, detailed test procedures, and any additional operations-related products
  • Design tests, identifying instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Coordinate test activities and requirements with test facilities
  • Provide direction to matrix organizations during all phases of hardware requirements development, design, manufacturing, and testing
  • Coordinate fabrication of 3D printed parts for and assemble hatches for audio lab testing
  • Make minor design changes to hatch components and assist audio lab in installation of components and test execution
  • Refurbish existing pump test rig to use for pump noise dampening solutions
  • Working with team to get LabVIEW functional
  • Verify electrical functionality
  • Design/assemble charging method
  • Prototype and fabricate acoustic dampening solutions for the pumps
  • Designing and running tests for acoustic dampening
  • Assist in ordering components for and assembling audio system components
  • Perform other duties as required​

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering with experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ideal candidate is someone who is able to be self-led (after task is explained and taught) and a creative problem solver. background would be Mechanical/Aerospace engineering, but open to others that would have basic mechanical skills.

Requisition Preferences:

  • ​Basic familiarity with CREO/CAD software
  • Familiarity with Labview
  • Experience in a lab or testing environment
  • Experience with pressure systems including relief valves, pressure transducers, flow meters, and the calibration process of each is
