Plumbing Estimator (Commercial Mechanical Contractor)

Location: Kansas City Metro

About the Company

Our client is a growing commercial mechanical contractor with deep expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and sheet metal. They are expanding their estimating team and seeking a skilled Plumbing Estimator with experience in large commercial projects to support continued growth.

Position Summary

The Plumbing Estimator will play a critical role in supporting the estimating team by focusing on accurate take-offs and cost development for large-scale commercial plumbing projects. This role requires experience with underground and aboveground plumbing systems, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with senior estimators and project managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed quantity take-offs for underground and aboveground plumbing systems on large commercial projects.
• Review plans, specifications, and project documents to ensure accurate estimates.
• Assist in developing material, labor, and subcontractor costs to support project bids.
• Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to ensure scope completeness and accuracy.
• Maintain current pricing data and vendor/subcontractor relationships.
• Use estimating software (on-screen takeoff or similar highly ) to streamline accuracy and efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating processes and workflows.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a plumbing estimator role with a commercial mechanical contractor.
• Proven experience with underground plumbing systems in large commercial applications.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, assemblies, and installation practices.
• Proficiency in estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff or equivalent ).
• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to work on multiple projects.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with the team.
• Willingness to relocate to the Kansas City area.
