CM Engineering is a growing consulting engineering firm located in Charlotte, NC. We specialize in delivering high-quality mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineering services with a strong focus on sustainable design. We're seeking a Plumbing Design Engineer to join our dynamic team.
Position Summary
As a Plumbing Design Engineer, you will contribute to the development of plumbing system designs from schematic design through construction administration. Projects span multiple sectors including:
- Office buildings
- Retail spaces
- Condominiums
- Industrial facilities
- Multi-family residential developments
You will work under the guidance of Project Managers and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and layout plumbing systems for various building types.
- Perform plumbing calculations for water, storm, and equipment systems.
- Design sanitary waste, vent, stormwater, and domestic water systems.
- Select and specify plumbing system components.
- Develop design documents and assist with construction administration.
- Coordinate with architectural and other engineering disciplines.
- Apply sound engineering judgment under Project Manager supervision.
- Assist in preparing plans, specifications, and construction documents.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as needed.
Requirements:
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering ()
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in building plumbing systems design (required)
- At least 2 years of hands-on plumbing design experience ()
- Experience in a consulting engineering firm (highly desirable)
- Exposure to multifamily and commercial design (a plus)
Technical Skills
- Proficient in AutoCAD (ACAD required)
- Experience with Revit ()
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
