We are seeking an experienced PLC Controls Engineer II to lead and execute automation and controls projects for material handling systems. This role is responsible for the planning, design, programming, commissioning, and successful delivery of electrical controls projects while managing scope, budget, schedules, and customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead automation projects for material handling and warehouse automation systems.
- Develop, program, and implement PLC code for material handling equipment.
- Review AutoCAD layouts, electrical schematics, and system designs to support project implementation.
- Test PLC prototypes both internally and at customer sites.
- Execute commissioning activities, system startup, and troubleshooting.
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Business User Acceptance Testing (BUAT), and on-site customer acceptance testing.
- Coordinate project tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates and documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Maintain compliance with established coding standards and engineering best practices.
- Support project planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum 4 years of Controls Engineering experience in a similar role.
- Prior leadership experience as a Project Lead, Project Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead, or equivalent.
- Ability and willingness to travel more than 85% of the time.
- Experience with e-commerce material handling or warehouse automation systems.
- Strong experience with PLC programming and electrical system design, including:

- Allen-Bradley PLCs
- Siemens PLCs
- Beckhoff PLCs
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Industrial networking protocols
- Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
- Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design
- Experience integrating barcode scanners and machine vision systems.
- Knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
