Job Description Summary
The GE Aerospace Research Programs Office connects the business, product, and technology needs of GE Aerospace and our customers (including the U.S. Government) with the technical workforce within the research center to provide differentiated solutions. As the Future Power & Propulsion Platform Leader, you will partner with the GE Aerospace Research technical & leadership teams to ensure efficient utilization of R&D resources and alignment to near-, mid-, and far-field priorities. You will support the Director of the Programs Office in balancing and optimizing the overall research portfolio across multiple stakeholder groups, including GE Aerospace, industry customers, partners, and U.S. Government agencies.
As a Platform Leader, you will manage coordination and sensing rhythms with GE Aerospace and external customers, ensuring strong connectivity to emerging and challenging needs. You will foster collaboration amongst Research teams and develop a unified Platform growth pathway embraced by internal and external stakeholders. Your role includes translating customer needs into actionable programs, launching research initiatives, and facilitating technology transfer across the aerospace sector, ensuring GE Aerospace Research remains a leading industry driver.
The Future Power & Propulsion Platform Leader will oversee the development of next- systems across land, sea, air, and space, focusing on innovative, differentiating designs and technologies with scalable production and fleet support. You will also partner within the Research Center to maintain customer relationships and serve as the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Roles and Responsibilities
Build, coordinate, and own the planning, funding, and pursuit of external contracts for the Platform Leader project portfolio to deliver capabilities and solutions for customers.
Connect the Research team to customer challenges and build cross-organizational teams to address them.
Ensure vitality of existing technology programs and create new relationships; champion customer needs and communicate business situations to the research center.
Define product and technical roadmaps, informing long-term strategies with business technology and product management leaders.
Identify key technical competencies vital to the business and work with leadership on resource planning and technology application.
Link customer needs to technical programs that serve the customer better.
Participate in strategy planning, establishing Aerospace Research technologists as vital strategic partners.
Host visitors at Research Centers to foster collaboration and showcase future technologies.
Partner with stakeholders to shape technology development that delivers value to governmental customers.
Provide insights on technical demand and skills to enable growth planning.
Support program accountability, monitor execution, and facilitate cross-lab tradeoffs.
Drive adoption of critical technologies into the business or third-party partners.
Manage customer relationships, seek feedback, and improve processes.
Recruit, develop, and orchestrate talent across GE Aerospace and the Research Center.
Required Qualifications
Doctorate or Master’s Degree in Science or Engineering with 10 years of relevant experience.
Strong technical background with project/program management experience and knowledge of GE application portfolio.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple efforts effectively.
Experience in driving cross-functional engagement and interacting with customers and management.
Ability to build networks across organizations.
Must obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.
Willingness to work onsite in Lynn MA, Evendale OH, or Niskayuna NY.
Desired Characteristics
Same qualifications as above, emphasizing technical management and organizational skills.
Ability to work with technical data subject to U.S. Government restrictions; only U.S. eligible for this role.
The base pay range is $165,000 - $275,000 annually, influenced by experience, education, and skills. The position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The posting closes on July 2, 2025.
