Platform Engineering Lead
Job Description
Platform Engineering Lead – Cybersecurity | £120K–£130K | London (2 days onsite)
I'm hiring for a global leader in the cybersecurity space. They're looking for a Platform Engineering Lead to drive the build of a brand-new AWS platform from the ground up. Greenfield. Global scale. Big impact.
You’ll be stepping into a hands-on leadership role, initially leading a small squad (2–3 engineers), with the scope to grow the team and shape the engineering culture as the platform scales.
What you’ll be working on:
- Developer Experience (DevX) – making life easier for engineers
- Observability – full visibility across systems
- Kubernetes – deploying and managing workloads in production
- AWS networking – VPCs, subnets, routing
- Cloud cost optimisation – spend smart, scale well
The stack includes:
EKS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM – with a heavy AWS focus
We’re looking for someone with a deep understanding of how Kubernetes works under the hood – including things like CNI and CSI drivers, and operator patterns. This isn’t just about using K8s – it’s about knowing how and why it behaves the way it does.
Day to day:
- You'll be 60% hands-on, rolling up your sleeves and building
- Be the go-to person in the room – driving architecture, setting technical direction
- Lead by example and help elevate the team around you
What’s next:
- Clear progression path into a broader leadership role in the next 12–18 months
- Build and hire your future team
- Define standards and processes
- Eventually step back from day-to-day coding into a more strategic role
Location:
- 2 days a week onsite in London
If you're a strong technical leader who still loves to be hands-on, and you’re ready to build something meaningful with impact, let’s talk.
