Order Ref: (phone number removed) \n\nPosition Title: Platform Development Engineer \n\nDuration: Contract \n\nLocation: Manchester\n\nKnowledge, Skills and Experience\n\nEssential:\n\n4+ years' experience in Unix OS and ideally recent experience in container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc) and a scripting (e.g. Python, Bash)\n4+ years' experience of at least one major cloud provider (GCP, AWS, Azure) and Kubernetes experience\nStrong experience of Site Reliability Engineering practices and principles\nStrong experience in operational monitoring and dash-boarding for applications (ELK, SonarQube, Prometheus, Grafana)\nExperience with containers and orchestration frameworks (Docker, k8s)\nExperience with source code management and version control (Git/GitHub/GitLab)\nExperience with modern CI/CD tools and techniques\nPrevious involvement in all stages of the software delivery lifecycle\nPassion for mentoring and technical coaching of engineers\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nCollaborative skills - being open to pair programming and working closely with engineers in cross functional teams\nInfrastructure provisioning tools e.g. Terraform, Ansible\nGood automation skills, including experience with unit testing and automated testing tools\nExperience of operating enterprise scale production systems alongside monitoring and telemetry practices (SonarQube, Prometheus, Grafana)\nSolid understanding of networking concepts, technologies, and protocols (TCP/IP, IPSec, HTTP, FTP, DHCP, and DNS) \n\nDesirable:\n\nExperience of Software Engineering with Go, Java, JavaScript or another \nKnowledge of Microservices architectures, RESTful APIs and message queues\nExperience operating bespoke built enterprise scale cloud- microservice applications\nExperience with database technologies such as MySQL or NoSQL technologies (e.g.
