Plant Operator - Energy from Waste
Altera Recruitment Group is partnering with a respected energy recovery and waste management organisation to appoint a skilled Plant Operator. The role of a Plant Operator is pivotal in overseeing the safe, efficient operation of high-performance boilers and turbine systems to maximise steam and plant productivity. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mechanical or process operations background, sound technical judgment, and a commitment to maintaining the highest safety and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities of Plant Operator
* Operate and monitor turbine and boiler systems to ensure optimal performance and continuous energy output.
* Record operational data, including temperature, pressure, and flow readings, ensuring accurate shift logs and smooth handovers.
* Respond swiftly to alarms, system faults, and emergency situations to maintain plant integrity and safety.
* Oversee waste handling processes, including crane operations and material movement, ensuring compliance with operational procedures.
* Support maintenance activities, cleaning routines, and plant inspections, working at various site levels when required.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience within a process plant, energy recovery, or industrial operations environment.
* Familiarity with boiler and turbine operation or related mechanical systems (advantageous).
* Forklift Truck (FLT) or Front Loading Shovel (FLS) certification .
* Demonstrated commitment to health, safety, and environmental compliance in a high-risk setting.
* Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to both planned and reactive tasks.
