Plant Maintenance Engineer

Objectives of the Position Maintain production facilities and utilities, reducing Unplanned Loss (UL), and Scheduled Loss (SL) as per Site targets for plant availability at optimized maintenance cost. Manage Planning & scheduling and Maintenance programs for rotating and static equipment. Lead Small CAPEX, Management of Change (MOC) & improvement projects. Lead Bad Actor Management Program & perform Reliability Analysis and Root Cause Analysis. Technical Expert for Mechanical Discipline Responsibilities Maintain production plant and utilities equipment to satisfactory levels, meeting the desired plant performance and availability targets. Responsible to lead Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Repairs and Condition Monitoring programs for rotating and static equipment, with a Reliability-centered Maintenance mindset. Lead planning, scheduling and execution activities of routine maintenance, annual turnarounds, and statutory inspections Review bad actor management program through Reliability Analysis and Root Cause Failure Analysis Review periodically the RBM (Risk Based Maintenance) system for the plant. Manage spare part availability, optimizing Inventory levels and monitoring to ensuring the team replenishes spare parts for mechanical equipment and piping. Administer training & development for in-house contractors and mechanical maintenance team. Co-ordinate with vendors & contractors for maintenance, shutdown and small CAPEX projects. Execute annual contractor performance review/ management system and review of maintenance contracts for parts/ service for renewal exercises. Initiate, collaborate, support or execution of minor plant modification, de-bottlenecking and improvement works. Site Technical Expert for Mechanical Discipline providing inputs to process, projects and supporting any commissioning, start-up activities. Align work processes to BASF Corporate Guidelines and functionally responsibility to upkeep discipline related documentation for ISO or Responsible Care Audits. Fulfil the following EHS responsibilities: Manage work instructions and maintenance planning to the interests of occupational safety, health and environmental protection. Provide clarity regarding hazards and control measures in Permit-to-Work (PTW), Risk Assessment (RA) & Work Instructions to contractors and the team. Conduct & maintain routine safety walks, safety engagement briefing, appropriate safety induction training, risk assessment reviews and statutory requirements. Ensure that any Plant changes/ modifications are carried out in accordance with the Management of Change procedures. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering At least 5 years’ experience in Chemical or related industries i.e., Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical Adept at Maintenance, Utilities & Turnaround Management, working with SAP R3 system on Preventive, Corrective Maintenance Sound knowledge and experience in maintenance, repair & troubleshooting of various types of rotating equipment, static equipment, and packaged equipment. Good knowledge on maintenance of pumps, agitator seals, heat exchangers, air compressors, cooling towers, and process chillers. Knowledge on specialized equipment would be given preference such as Centrifuge, Vacuum Drier, Compactors, Steam Jets, Liquid ring Vacuum pumps, Dry Vacuum pumps, Belt Filters, Non-steel vessels & equipment. Familiar with inspection activities such as Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), Visual Inspection, Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) and American Petroleum Institute (API) inspection programs. Some experience in startup/commissioning of downstream process plants. Familiar with purchasing processes, bid specifications, technical bid evaluation. Keen interest in digitalization of work processes. Knowledge in mechanical integrity aspect of process safety management. Well-versed in Microsoft Office programs, MS Project, SAP R3 Excellent communication skills with a focus on team building, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
