Planning Policy Officer\n\nA Local Authority is seeking an experienced Planning Policy Officer to support the delivery and implementation of its Local Plan on an initial 3-month contract.\n\nThis role will suit a planning professional with strong policy experience within a Local Authority environment and a solid understanding of planning legislation, Local Plans, and development management processes.\n\nWorking arrangements are ideally 2 days per week in the office (Tuesday and Thursday), although flexibility can be considered for the right candidate.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n* Contribute to the preparation, review, and implementation of Local Plan documents, Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs), and related planning policy work\n\n* Support the delivery of planning policy projects including evidence gathering, monitoring, and reporting\n\n* Provide planning policy advice and guidance to colleagues, stakeholders, and the public\n\n* Prepare reports, policy documents, consultation responses, and supporting evidence\n\n* Appraise development proposals against Local Plan policies, Government guidance, and planning considerations\n\n* Support examinations, hearings, inquiries, and committee reporting where required\n\n* Maintain and analyse planning performance and monitoring data using GIS and digital systems\n\n* Work collaboratively with internal departments, external partners, and regional stakeholders to support strategic planning objectives\n\nRequirements\n\n* Previous experience working within a Local Authority planning policy team is essential\n\n* Strong knowledge of Local Plans, planning legislation, and policy development\n\n* Experience preparing planning policy documents and supporting evidence\n\n* Ability to manage workloads independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment\n\n* Excellent written communication and report writing skills\n\n* Experience using GIS systems and planning-related databases is desirable\n\n* MRTPI qualification or working towards accreditation is desirable
