The Opportunity



We are seeking an experienced Planning Manager to join a leading contractor based from their head office in Leeds. You will have an integral role within the senior management team and will lead the detailed planning and scheduling of various new build core sector projects with build values up to £30m. As an essential member of the planning team, you will utilise your expertise in planning software and methodologies to develop comprehensive project schedules. You will be instrumental in optimising resource allocation and ensuring timely project delivery, your contributions will be vital in achieving successful outcomes and supporting the organisation's ongoing growth and success.



What We're Looking For



Experience:



Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working with tier 1 and tier 2 construction contractors

A demonstrated track record of working on projects across a range of sectors such as education, healthcare, MoD / MoJ

A proven history of working in a similar position on new build / refurbishment projects with build values in excess of £5mKey Skills:



Strong IT skills

Excellent leadership abilities

Strategic and analytical thinking

Capability to conduct successful negotiations

Good working knowledge of Primavera P6 / Asta / MS Projects

Clear communication abilities combined with a keen eye for detail

Capacity to adjust to changes and amend project plans as required

Solid understanding of industry regulations, standards, and best practices

Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methodologies

Competent in utilizing planning software and methodologies to develop elaborate project schedules

Proven track record in planning and project management, preferably within the construction industry

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders



Key Responsibilities



Direct and oversee planning teams

Engage in strategic decision-making

Obtain necessary permits and approvals

Perform routine quality audits and assessments

Keep precise and thorough project documentation

Provide leadership and expertise to planning teams

Foster and sustain productive stakeholder partnerships

Oversee the planning process from initiation to completion

Establish strategic schedules for pre-construction planning

Execute ongoing assessments to ensure quality standards

Formulate project cost plans and oversee financial performance

Implement productivity-enhancing methods to maintain project flow

Execute risk management strategies to address unexpected obstacles

Address client concerns and ensure satisfaction with project deliverables

Track and oversee project schedules to ensure compliance with deadlines

Establish and sustain positive client relationships, communicating regularly

Ensure projects align with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards

Establish detailed project plans that prioritize key milestones and dependencies

Handle and resolve project issues as they emerge throughout the project lifecycle

Create and deliver routine reports on project advancement, challenges, and results

Analyse potential risks and apply comprehensive strategies for their mitigation and control

Create thorough project schedules, taking into account critical milestones and dependencies

Contribute to the development of long-term strategic plans for the organization or specific projects

Utilize project management tools and technologies to improve planning and coordination processes
