Description Highlights of the jobWe are hiring a Full Time PermanentPlanning Engineer, Water Treatment Plants (WTP) working out of Edmonton, AB.Open to Internal EPCOR employees and External candidates. The Engineer, Water Plants and Reservoirs Planning is accountable for providing engineering and project management expertise to execute planning initiatives and activities related to the Edmonton WTPs and Reservoirs. This position provides engineering support to ensure the necessary strategic plans and engineering work be accomplished to develop and update short and long term plans, capital and performance-based rates planning and integrated resource planning. What you’d be responsible forSupporting the management and execution of the planning for the Edmonton WTPs and Reservoirs:Leading planning activities to support integrated resource planning, long term capital planning and performance-based rate submissionsDeveloping, implementing and reviewing planning documents, technical memos, performance-based rate documents and business cases, conceptual designs and design basis memorandumsHelping maintain optimum and balanced asset and capital plans for the Edmonton WTPs and ReservoirsAssisting with the preparation of integrated resource planning revisionsAssist with preparation and delivery of planning updates to internal and external stakeholdersSupporting the execution of external engineering planning studies and project development:Leading procurement of external consulting servicesManaging consultant relationshipsResponding to information requests in a timely mannerReviewing technical work completed by others and support finalization of deliverablesSupporting planning related stakeholder engagement activities for Edmonton WTPs and Reservoirs:Facilitating discussions with external companies and organizations seeking partnerships with EPCOR, this may include information exchange, data analysis, evaluation of technical and financial feasibility etc.Assisting the Public & Government Affairs group with conducting engagement activities and drafting public communication for planning, operational and capital activitiesSupporting capital planning and projects:Effectively handing over projects after completion of planning and project developmentSupporting activities related to performance validation as required to further inform future planning activitiesSupporting initiatives related to process improvement and environment, social and governance performance:Leading and supporting internal/external studies and initiativesAssisting with quantifying and reducing environment footprintAssisting with understanding and improving facility resilienceFacilitating grant funding opportunities and assist with grant applicationsAwareness and support of greenhouse gas reduction initiatives and managementCollaborating with internal and external stakeholders and participate on cross-functional activities, initiatives and committees including:Engineering and Technical ServicesWater Treatment and Wastewater Treatment PlantsWater Distribution and Transmission and Wastewater CollectionDrainageProjects ManagementRegulatoryCustomer OperationsCorporate SustainabilityWhat’s required to be successfulBachelors degree in Engineering - Civil/Environmental Engineering or Chemical Engineering is preferredMaster's degree or further training in Environmental Engineering will be considered an assetMust be registered as Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Alberta5 years of experience in process design, asset management and project management experience5 years of experience in working in a operational plant environment will be considered an assetValid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s LicenseOther important facts about this jobJurisdiction: PROFHours of work: 40 hours per weekApplication deadline: July 4, 2023Learn more about !Follow us on ,, or !#LI-TA8Please note the following information:A requirement of working for EPCOR is that you are at least 18 years of age, successfully attained a high school diploma (GED, or equivalent level of secondary education) and legally entitled to work in Canada.
