Piping Project Engineer in Phoenix

This job is in Sunnyvale California. The Project Engineer supports the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale Semiconductor mission-critical construction projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to ensure piping scope is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

This position requires strong understanding of piping systems, field installation practices, and construction coordination in complex environments such as data centers, semiconductor, or industrial facilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily field and office project operations by coordinating between field teams, subcontractors, vendors, and design engineers
  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation throughout the project lifecycle
  • Assist with project scheduling, progress tracking, and milestone reporting
  • Coordinate piping installation activities with other trades including electrical, structural, and mechanical teams
  • Review piping drawings, isometrics, plans, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and constructability
  • Interpret P&IDs, piping specifications, and process flow diagrams (PFDs) as required
  • Assist with procurement activities including material tracking, long-lead items, and vendor coordination
  • Monitor quality control activities to ensure compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards
  • Conduct field walks to verify piping installation progress, identify issues, and support resolution of field conflicts
  • Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate project records, logs, and reports
  • Support commissioning and turnover activities including punch lists, system completion tracking, and closeout documentation
  • Assist in resolving field coordination issues and supporting construction problem-solving efforts
  • Maintain clear communication with project stakeholders to ensure alignment and execution

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • 2–5+ years of experience in construction, field engineering, or project coordination roles
  • Experience in data center, semiconductor, cleanroom, or mission-critical construction
  • Familiarity with construction documentation including RFIs, submittals, drawings, and specifications
  • Basic understanding of scheduling and cost tracking principles

 

Piping Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret piping drawings, isometrics, plans, and specifications
  • Working knowledge of P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and PFDs
  • Familiarity with piping systems such as chilled water, heating hot water, compressed air, gas, and process piping
  • Understanding of piping installation methods, fabrication, supports, testing, hydrotesting, flushing, and commissioning
  • Knowledge of valves, fittings, pipe materials, and installation sequencing
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Proficient in Bluebeam and document management systems
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar construction management platforms
  • Basic knowledge of Primavera P6 or MS Project is a plus

 

Experience

  • Experience working for a piping contractor or industrial/mechanical subcontractor with strong piping scope
  • Experience on data center, semiconductor, advanced technology, or industrial construction projects
  • Exposure to commissioning, system turnover, and startup activities involving piping systems
  • Experience coordinating piping installation in the field with multiple trades
  • Familiarity with material tracking, pipe supports, testing documentation, and turnover packages
