This is not a pure mechanical role—you must have hands-on PCB layout experience along with solid mechanical design skills. You’ll collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and optical engineers to turn complex requirements into reliable, manufacturable designs.
What You’ll Do
- Create and maintain PCB layouts from provided schematics (Altium ), optimizing for performance, manufacturability, and cost
- Build and update 3D CAD models, assemblies, and drawings (Creo ) for mechanical parts and assemblies
- Release complete documentation packages (schematics, layouts, BOMs, drawings) for manufacturing and procurement
- Work cross-functionally to ensure accuracy, design intent, and configuration control
- Maintain and improve existing PCB and mechanical designs for performance and cost
- Write and process Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of combined PCB layout and mechanical CAD experience
- Proficiency in Altium (or equivalent PCB design software) and Creo (or equivalent mechanical CAD)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics for PCB layout/design
- Understanding of manufacturing processes for both machined parts and PCBs
- Strong cross-disciplinary design judgment and ability to manage multiple projects
Qualifications
- Experience designing for complex, precision electronic or optical systems
- Familiarity with ISO-certified quality systems and documentation processes
Why Join Photon Kinetics
