Patient Service Specialist

Location: The Woodlands, TX

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Pay Rate: $24/hour

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Patient Service Specialist to join a dynamic healthcare team in The Woodlands, TX. This role is ideal for candidates with strong communication skills and experience in patient access, billing, and account resolution within a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient & Call Support
• Answer incoming calls promptly and professionally.

• Assess caller needs, resolve concerns, and document outcomes.

• Maintain service metrics, including hold times under 1:30 minutes.

• Account Resolution & Payment Plans

• Establish payment arrangements in line with department guidelines.

• Collect initial payments and assist walk-in patients when necessary.

• Ensure all account notes are updated accurately.

• Payment Processing

• Accept and process verbal and in-person credit card payments.

• Reconcile daily cash drawer and ensure compliance with payment protocols.

• Follow procedures for secure handling of payment data.

• Account Maintenance & Collections

• Maintain accurate and updated patient account information.

• Contact guarantors and third-party payors to resolve outstanding balances.

• Identify accounts appropriate for external collections referral.

• Special Assignments
• Participate in special projects and department improvement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Patient Access Registration or Financial Counseling.

• Experience with Epic, insurance verification, and referrals/authorizations.

• Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general office equipment.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent - Required.
