Job Profile: Parts Control and Inventory – Mechanical Shop

Department: Mechanical Shop
Position: Parts Control and Inventory
Job Type: Full-Time / On-Site
Reports to: Accounting / Purchasing

Position Objective

Ensure accurate control, safekeeping, storage, and distribution of parts, materials, and tools used in the mechanical shop, maintaining availability and proper tracking to support efficient fleet operations.

Main Responsibilities

· Receiving and Recording: Receive, inspect, and register incoming parts and materials for the shop.

· Order Verification: Confirm that purchase orders match the materials received.

· Inventory Management: Keep parts inventory updated; label, organize, and store all items properly.

· Internal Distribution: Deliver parts to mechanics according to work orders and maintain records of outgoing and returned parts.

· Tool Control: Manage the lending and return of shared or special tools.

· Area Maintenance: Keep the storage and parts areas clean, organized, and safe.

· Reports and Documentation: Record all incoming, outgoing, and returned parts using the established digital or Excel format.

· Coordination with Accounting/Purchasing: Report needs, shortages, warranty claims, or discrepancies.

· Local Purchasing Support: Pick up or deliver parts and supplies when needed.

· Administrative Support: Assist accounting and purchasing with reports, requisitions, and expense documentation.

Required Experience

· Minimum 1 year of experience () in inventory control, parts handling, or a similar position in a mechanical, automotive, or transportation shop.

· Valid driver’s license.

· Bilingual ( English/ Spanish) ( required)

· Basic computer skills (Excel, email).

 

Desired Knowledge

· Inventory management and record keeping.

· General knowledge of truck and trailer parts.

· Familiarity with shop processes and work orders.

Working Conditions

· Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 4:30 pm ( 30 Minutes Lunch)

Saturday : 9:00 am to 2:00 pm

 

· Workplace: Mechanical yard / shop environment.

· Assigned Equipment: Work uniform and access to the parts storage area.
