Parking Garage Customer Service Specialist (Full-Time)

The Revenue Authority of Prince George’s County is seeking a Parking Garage Customer Service Specialist to provide customer service and support relating to a range of activities associated with the maintenance and operations of the garage(s). This opportunity reports to the Parking Garage Manager with the shift hours of operations from 11:00am to 7:30pm, Monday to Friday.

The Revenue Authority of Prince George is a quasi-governmental entity that serves as a real estate development and development finance agency, an operator of programs and facilities, and a manager of programs and facilities in partnership with other Prince George’s County agencies.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with maintaining the operations of building and parking facilities
  • Assists with all parking-related issues to include day-to-day activities of the garage facilities and pay stations
  • Performs daily inspections of garages and taking appropriate corrective action for any operating deficiencies
  • Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of the parking facility
  • Interacts with the public (in person, on the phone or by mail) to resolve issues related to the dissemination of information regarding parking regulations
  • Responds to correspondence, phone requests and complaints about parking operations and programs
  • Represents the Agency to the public in a manner that is positive, knowledgeable, courteous, fair, authoritative, and within the scope of assigned duties at all times
  • Uses computer applications or other automated systems such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, e-mail and database software in performing work assignments
  • Monitors the parking system data for security and revenue purposes
  • Performs minor repair or trouble shooting to parking control equipment such as parking gates, ticket dispensers, time clocks, signs and other parking revenue equipment
  • Prepares purchase orders and maintains inventory of meter supplies and part
  • Maintains automated records of permit parking spaces, meter receipts, meters requiring repair and maintenance
  • Completes police reports regarding incidents that have been observed in person or via remote monitoring equipment
  • Represents the agency by testifying in court relative to incidents recorded or viewed on remote monitoring equipment

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible professional experience
  • Possession of a valid vehicle operator's license
  • Willingness to respond to emergency services calls in a timely manner on a 24-hour basis
  • Progressively responsible experience with Revenue Control equipment and software
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds
  • Knowledge of pay-on-foot technology
  • Ability to perform work inside and outside year round
  • Ability to prepare and maintain clear, concise and accurate documentation
  • Ability to use modern technology – computer (Microsoft Office Suite), telephone systems
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, and other agencies regarding maintenance both in written and verbal form in English
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, general public, and other employees
  • Knowledge of practices, procedures, tools, equipment and terminology used in operation, maintenance and repair of parking equipment and parking facilities
