Job Type: Full-Time, 12-Hour Shifts
Schedule: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Day Shift) / 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM (Night Shift)
Pay Rate: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Job Overview

We are seeking reliable and physically fit Packaging Machine Operators to join our metal manufacturing team. Positions are available for 12-hour shifts, rotating day / nigh schedule. You will set up, operate, and maintain machinery that winds, spools, wraps, and straps copper wire and metal products for shipment. The ideal candidate has experience with industrial machinery, thrives in a fast-paced 12-hour work environment, and prioritizes heavy-industrial safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine Operation: Set up, operate, and monitor industrial packaging machines (e.g., automatic wire spoolers, coil wrappers, and steel banding/strapping equipment). [1]
• Material Loading: Load heavy metal spools, coils, and raw materials onto machinery using cranes, hoists, or forklifts.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished wire and metal products for proper winding tension, accurate weight counts, and surface defects prior to final packaging.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Clear mechanical jams, perform minor tooling adjustments, and execute routine preventative maintenance to minimize production downtime.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA standards and heavy-industrial safety protocols. Properly utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. [1]
• Documentation: Complete production logs, track material heat numbers, and report mechanical issues to supervisors.

Qualifications

• : Bilingual Spanish / English is , but not required
• Education: High School Diploma or GED .
• Experience: 1 - 2 years of experience operating machinery in a metal fabrication, wire mill, or heavy manufacturing environment.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods throughout a 12-hour shift, work in a non-climate-controlled plant, and safely lift or maneuver up to 50 lbs.
• Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, and experience reading digital calipers or measuring tapes.
• Availability: Flexibility to work consistent 12-hour shifts, including required weekends or holidays based on the rotation schedule.
• Certifications: Forklift or overhead crane operation certification is a major plus.
• Must be willing to to comply with the pre-employment requirement for drug screening and background check.
